Eavesdropping comes naturally to young song sparrows

Long before the subject Security force began eavesdropping on the phone calls of Americans, juvenile performance sparrows were listening to and lore the tunes sung by their neighbors. University of Washington scientists exploring how masculine song sparrows (Melospiza melodia) acquire their song repertoires have set up the first evidence that young birds opt a number of of their songs by eavesdropping on the tuneful interactions between other sparrows........
